ALVR106 is an allogeneic, off-the-shelf, polyclonal multi-virus-specific T-cell therapy developed to target and treat infections caused by four major community-acquired respiratory viruses: influenza (Flu), human metapneumovirus (hMPV), parainfluenza virus (PIV), and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). The therapy is generated by exposing peripheral bone marrow cells to viral peptides with activating cytokines, resulting in Th1-polarized and polyfunctional T cells that selectively kill viral target cells. ALVR106 provides virus-specific cellular immunity for immunocompromised patients such as those who have undergone hematopoietic stem cell or solid organ transplantation. It is designed as a bridge therapy to help patients clear acute infections until their immune system recovers. The product does not show alloreactivity and does not engraft long-term[1][2][3][5][8]. Development of ALVR106 was suspended/terminated in early 2024 due to strategic business decisions; it had reached Phase 1/2 clinical trials for several indications[7]. AlloVir was previously known as ViraCyte.
