Overview

Alxoid is a subcutaneous immunotherapy product containing one or several standardized polymerized allergen extracts adsorbed onto aluminium hydroxide gel. It is indicated for the treatment of type I (IgE-mediated) allergic diseases such as rhinitis, conjunctivitis, and asthma in adults and children over 5 years old. The allergens can include mixtures such as Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus and Dermatophagoides farinae (house dust mites), or grass pollen mixtures. The therapy works by gradually exposing the immune system to increasing doses of the relevant allergen(s), aiming to induce tolerance and reduce allergic symptoms over time. Administration must be performed by trained healthcare professionals in medical facilities equipped for emergency management of severe allergic reactions[3][7][1].
