ALZ-101 is a therapeutic vaccine developed by Alzinova for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. It is designed to stimulate the production of antibodies specifically targeting toxic amyloid-beta (Aβ) oligomers, which are believed to play a central role in the onset and progression of Alzheimer’s disease. The vaccine uses Alzinova's proprietary AβCC peptide technology to generate an immune response that neutralizes these neurotoxic aggregates without affecting non-toxic forms of amyloid-beta. Clinical studies have shown that ALZ-101 induces an oligomer-specific humoral immune response, increases protective antibody levels in patients with early Alzheimer’s disease to those seen in healthy elderly individuals, and has demonstrated favorable safety and tolerability profiles in phase 1b trials. The drug is currently advancing toward phase 2 clinical development[1][5][6][7][8].
