Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AM-831 is an orally available small molecule antipsychotic drug candidate that combines muscarinic M1 partial agonism with both dopamine D2 and serotonin 5-HT2A antagonism. It was developed by ACADIA Pharmaceuticals in collaboration with Meiji Seika Pharma for the treatment of schizophrenia. Preclinical studies indicated that AM-831 had both antipsychotic and pro-cognitive effects. However, development was discontinued after Phase I clinical trials did not meet predetermined criteria for further advancement.
