AM103

AM103 is a potent and selective small molecule inhibitor of 5-lipoxygenase activating protein (FLAP), developed by Amira Pharmaceuticals. It is designed to prevent the synthesis of leukotrienes, which are proinflammatory mediators implicated in asthma, allergic rhinitis, and cardiovascular diseases. By inhibiting FLAP, AM103 blocks the production of leukotriene B4 (LTB4) and leukotriene E4 (LTE4), thereby reducing inflammation. Clinical studies have shown that AM103 is well absorbed orally and has demonstrated safety and tolerability in Phase I trials at doses up to 1,000 mg per day. The drug has advanced to Phase II clinical trials for respiratory disorders such as asthma under the development partnership between Amira Pharmaceuticals and GlaxoSmithKline[1][3][4].
