Overview

AMA0526 is a **selective Rho kinase (ROCK) inhibitor** developed for ophthalmic use, primarily targeting wound healing processes in the eye. It interferes with fibroblast proliferation and differentiation, thereby inhibiting myofibroblast transition and collagen deposition. AMA0526 acts by blocking the ROCK pathway, which is key to cytoskeletal remodeling, cell migration, and contractility. In preclinical studies, AMA0526 has demonstrated efficacy in improving outcomes after glaucoma filtration surgery and corneal wound healing by reducing inflammation, angiogenesis, fibrosis, and scarring. The drug has shown benefits in animal models, including decreased intraocular pressure and improved bleb survival after glaucoma surgery, as well as reduced corneal opacity and neovascularization after alkali burn injury[1][2][4]. Developer is stated as Amakem NV[4].
