AMA1-DiCo + GLA-SE is a malaria vaccine candidate targeting the blood stage of *Plasmodium falciparum*. The formulation consists of three recombinant variants of the apical membrane antigen 1 (AMA1), designed to cover the extensive polymorphism found in natural parasite populations. These three "Diversity Covering" (DiCo) proteins are combined to induce broad immune responses against multiple strains. The vaccine is adjuvanted with glucopyranosyl lipid adjuvant–stable emulsion (GLA-SE), a synthetic TLR4 agonist that enhances Th1-type immune responses and antibody production. Clinical trials have shown that this combination is safe and immunogenic in both malaria-naive and malaria-exposed adults, with higher IgG responses observed when using GLA-SE compared to aluminum-based adjuvants[1][2][5][8]. The primary indication is for prevention of malaria caused by *P. falciparum*.
