Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Amaryl M IR is a fixed-dose combination medication containing glimepiride and metformin hydrochloride in an immediate release formulation. It is used for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus when diet, exercise, and single agent therapy (glimepiride or metformin alone) do not result in adequate glycemic control. Glimepiride works by stimulating the pancreas to release more insulin, while metformin helps reduce blood sugar production by the liver and improves insulin sensitivity.
