Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Amavatari Ras is a classical Ayurvedic herbo-mineral formulation (Rasaushadhi) primarily used for the treatment of Amavata (Rheumatoid Arthritis) and other inflammatory joint conditions such as osteoarthritis. The formulation contains purified mercury (Parada), purified sulfur (Gandhaka), Guggulu (Commiphora mukul), Triphala (a combination of three fruits: Terminalia chebula, Terminalia bellirica, and Emblica officinalis), and Chitrak (Plumbago zeylanica), all processed with castor oil (Eranda Taila). It is characterized by its *Deepana* (digestive stimulant) and *Pachana* (carminative) properties, which help in the elimination of *Ama* (toxic metabolic by-products) believed to be the root cause of inflammation in Ayurveda. Amavatari Ras is manufactured by several prominent Ayurvedic firms and is typically administered orally in tablet form to alleviate joint pain, swelling, and stiffness.
