Overview

Amb a 1 is a major allergen protein from short ragweed (Ambrosia artemisiifolia) pollen. It's a pectate lyase enzyme that represents 54-78% of ragweed pollen allergenic molecules and 90% of its allergenic potential. This non-glycosylated protein with a molecular weight of 38 kDa is used as a marker of sensitization to ragweed pollen and as an active component in allergen immunotherapy products for treating ragweed allergies.
