Ambervin is a synthetic tetrapeptide immunomodulator developed by Promomed for the treatment of COVID-19 and other immune-related conditions. The drug consists of the active substance Tetrapeptide-1 (L-alanyl-L-glutamyl-L-aspartyl-L-glycine), which is a synthetic analog of bioregulatory peptides found in the thymus. Its mechanism of action involves binding to DNA and modulating the expression of genes associated with immune response, T-cell maturation, and cellular aging. In the context of moderate COVID-19, Ambervin is used to stabilize the immune system by stimulating T-lymphocyte function and regulating the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha). This dual action aims to prevent the hyperinflammatory response or "cytokine storm" and the subsequent progression to severe respiratory failure. The drug is formulated for administration via intramuscular injection or inhalation, allowing for localized action in the respiratory system.
