ambrosia artemisiifolia allergen extract

Ambrosia artemisiifolia allergen extract is a sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) used for the treatment of short ragweed pollen-induced allergic rhinitis, with or without conjunctivitis. Marketed as RAGWITEK®, it is an allergenic extract available as a sublingual tablet. The therapy works by gradually exposing the immune system to the allergen, which can induce tolerance and reduce the severity of allergic symptoms. This process is believed to involve the induction of specific IgG antibodies, a decrease in the seasonal rise of ragweed-specific IgE, and a reduction in the reactivity of immune cells. Clinical trials have been conducted by several companies, including ALK-Abelló, Merck & Co., and Stallergenes Greer, to evaluate its efficacy and safety in both adults and children. RAGWITEK is approved for use in individuals aged 5 through 65 years.
