Ambrosia Biosciences GLP-1R agonist

Ambrosia Biosciences is developing an orally bioavailable small-molecule agonist of the glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R) for the treatment of obesity and metabolic disorders. Launched in 2024, the company utilizes cryo-EM-enabled structural biology, biophysical binding assays, and AI-powered molecular design to create differentiated GLP-1 therapies. The lead program aims for best-in-class potential by achieving lower effective human dosing, superior 24-hour target coverage, and improved combinability compared to existing peptide-based GLP-1 drugs. A key focus of the development is the exploration of allosteric binding sites on the GLP-1 receptor, which may reduce common gastrointestinal side effects such as nausea and vomiting. The program is currently in the IND-enabling phase of development.
