Overview

Ambrosia deltoidea pollen extract is a biological therapeutic and diagnostic agent derived from the pollen of the triangle-leaf bursage, a plant native to the Sonoran Desert. It is utilized in allergen immunotherapy (AIT) to treat allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, and allergic asthma by inducing immunological tolerance. The extract is also used as a diagnostic tool in skin prick testing to identify patients with Type I hypersensitivity to this specific ragweed species. Its mechanism of action involves the modulation of the immune system, specifically by shifting the T-cell response from a Th2 to a Th1 profile, inducing regulatory T-cells (Tregs), and stimulating the production of allergen-specific IgG4 antibodies that block IgE-mediated mast cell degranulation.
