Overview

RHYNAL-XL syrup is an oral combination formulation containing cetirizine hydrochloride (an antihistamine) and ambroxol hydrochloride (a mucolytic agent). Developed and marketed by Minova Life Sciences in India, it is indicated for the treatment of allergic respiratory conditions associated with bronchospasm and excessive mucus secretion, such as allergic rhinitis, chronic spontaneous urticaria, and mild asthma. Cetirizine acts as a selective histamine H1 receptor antagonist to alleviate allergic symptoms like sneezing, runny nose, and itching. Ambroxol acts as a secretolytic agent, thinning mucus and facilitating its clearance by stimulating surfactant production and blocking voltage-gated sodium channels (specifically Nav1.8) to reduce airway irritation.
