Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Dexokuf-L is a combination cough syrup containing the mucolytic agent ambroxol, the second-generation antihistamine levocetirizine, the expectorant guaifenesin, and the cooling agent menthol. It is developed and marketed by Dexon Biotech for the symptomatic relief of productive coughs associated with respiratory allergies, bronchospasm, and congestion. Ambroxol acts by thinning and loosening thick mucus in the airways, while guaifenesin increases the volume and reduces the viscosity of respiratory tract secretions to facilitate expectoration. Levocetirizine selectively antagonizes peripheral histamine H1 receptors to alleviate allergic symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, and throat irritation. Menthol provides a cooling sensation that soothes minor throat irritation.
