Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ambroxol + terbutaline + guaiphenesin is a fixed-dose combination respiratory medication typically formulated as a syrup. It is used to manage productive cough and congestion associated with respiratory conditions like bronchitis, bronchial asthma, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Ambroxol acts as a mucolytic, breaking down thick mucus to make it easier to expel. Terbutaline is a bronchodilator that stimulates beta-2 adrenergic receptors to relax airway smooth muscles, improving airflow. Guaiphenesin is an expectorant that increases the volume and reduces the viscosity of respiratory tract secretions. Many commercial versions, such as WIZDALE, also include menthol for its cooling and soothing effects on the throat.
