Ambroxol hydrochloride oral solution

Ambroxol hydrochloride oral solution, marketed under brand names such as Belle, is a mucolytic agent primarily used for the secretolytic therapy of bronchopulmonary diseases characterized by abnormal mucus secretion and impaired mucus transport. It functions by promoting mucus clearance, facilitating expectoration, and easing productive cough. The drug stimulates the production and release of pulmonary surfactant, increases respiratory tract secretions, and enhances ciliary activity. Additionally, it exhibits anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and local anesthetic properties. Ambroxol hydrochloride was patented in 1966 and introduced into medical use in 1979.
