Amcinonide

Amcinonide is a highly potent synthetic topical corticosteroid used to treat inflammation, redness, itching, and swelling associated with various dermatologic conditions such as atopic dermatitis and allergic contact dermatitis. It acts primarily as an agonist of the glucocorticoid receptor. The anti-inflammatory effects are thought to result from the induction of phospholipase A2 inhibitory proteins (lipocortins), which inhibit the release of arachidonic acid—a precursor for inflammatory mediators like prostaglandins and leukotrienes.
