Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Amcipatricin is a water-soluble partricin derivative developed for the potential treatment of systemic fungal infections. It shows in vitro inhibitory activity comparable to or better than Amphotericin B against Candida spp., Cryptococcus neoformans, and Aspergillus spp. In preclinical models, it exhibits dose-dependent efficacy on murine pulmonary aspergillosis models. At doses higher than 1.0 mg/kg of body weight, it shows no renal toxicities and tends to provide better survival prolongation than the estimated maximum tolerated doses of amphotericin B (Fungizone) and liposomal amphotericin B.
