AMDC-USR (Autologous Muscle Derived Cells for Urinary Stress Redress) is an investigational autologous cell therapy developed by Cook MyoSite for the treatment of stress urinary incontinence (SUI) in women. The treatment process involves a small biopsy of the patient's own skeletal muscle, from which myogenic cells are isolated and expanded in a specialized manufacturing facility. These processed cells are then injected into the patient's urethral sphincter muscle during an outpatient procedure. The mechanism of action is based on the integration of the injected cells into the existing sphincter tissue, potentially regenerating muscle fibers and improving the sphincter's contractile strength to prevent involuntary urine leakage. AMDC-USR is currently being evaluated in Phase 3 clinical trials.
