Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ametumumab is a fully human recombinant anti-epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) monoclonal antibody. It was developed to treat advanced solid malignancies and colorectal cancer, aiming to overcome the toxic effects, such as severe cutaneous toxicities and infusion reactions, commonly associated with other authorized anti-EGFR monoclonal antibodies. Ametumumab is an IgG1 subtype antibody with a novel sequence and an epitope that partially overlaps with, but is distinct from, cetuximab. Preclinical studies showed it accumulates in tumor areas with fewer target-related adverse events and comparable antitumor activity to cetuximab.
