AMG 529

AMG 529 is a fully human monoclonal antibody developed by Amgen for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases. It acts as an antagonist of the asialoglycoprotein receptor 1 (ASGR1), blocking ligand binding to this hepatic receptor. The rationale for its development stems from genetic studies showing that loss-of-function variants in ASGR1 are associated with lower non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels and reduced risk of myocardial infarction and coronary artery disease. In phase 1 clinical trials, AMG 529 was administered to healthy adults via subcutaneous or intravenous routes to assess safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics.
