Anixa Biosciences' ovarian cancer vaccine is an investigational nucleic acid-based immunotherapy designed to prevent and treat ovarian cancer by targeting the extracellular domain of the anti-Mullerian hormone receptor II (AMHR2-ED). Developed in collaboration with the Cleveland Clinic and the National Cancer Institute, the vaccine utilizes the "retired protein" concept, targeting a protein that is expressed in the ovaries during certain life stages but is overexpressed in ovarian cancer cells. By encoding the AMHR2-ED polypeptide, the vaccine aims to stimulate the immune system to recognize and eliminate emerging malignant cells, particularly in high-risk individuals such as those with BRCA1/2 mutations or a strong family history of the disease.
