Overview

AMI-DC is an investigational autologous dendritic cell-based therapy designed to treat acute myocardial infarction (AMI), specifically focusing on patients with anterior wall myocardial infarction. The treatment process involves collecting approximately 300cc of the patient's whole blood, which is then cultured for four days to generate and activate dendritic cells. These mature cells are subsequently administered via subcutaneous injection in the left axillary region in two separate doses (approximately 5–7 days and 12–14 days following a percutaneous coronary intervention). The therapeutic approach aims to leverage the immunomodulatory properties of dendritic cells to regulate the post-ischemic inflammatory response, potentially reducing myocardial damage and promoting cardiac repair and functional recovery. The drug is being developed by VaxCell Bio in collaboration with Chonnam National University Hospital.
