Amido phenyl pyruvic acid is a small molecule research compound belonging to the class of phenylpyruvic acid derivatives. It is characterized by the presence of an amidine group and acts as a competitive inhibitor of Tryptase beta-2 (TPSB2), a major neutral protease stored in the secretory granules of mast cells. Tryptase beta-2 is released during mast cell degranulation and is involved in various physiological and pathological processes, including innate immunity, inflammation, and tissue remodeling. The compound is primarily utilized as a laboratory tool to study the biochemical properties of tryptases and to explore their roles in conditions such as asthma, anaphylaxis, and other allergic disorders. It is not currently developed as a therapeutic agent for clinical use.
