amikacin + piperacillin + teicoplanin

A combination antibiotic therapy consisting of amikacin (an aminoglycoside), piperacillin (an extended-spectrum penicillin), and teicoplanin (a glycopeptide antibiotic). This combination is primarily used for empirical treatment of febrile episodes in neutropenic patients with hematological malignancies. In clinical trials, the combination showed a 60% success rate compared to 50.6% for piperacillin plus amikacin alone. Teicoplanin specifically targets gram-positive bacteria, including oxacillin-resistant staphylococci, while piperacillin provides broad-spectrum coverage and amikacin targets resistant gram-negative bacteria.
