Amikashi is a branded generic formulation of amikacin, an aminoglycoside antibiotic marketed by Makshi Healthcare. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of serious infections caused by susceptible strains of Gram-negative bacteria, including *Pseudomonas* species, *Escherichia coli*, and *Klebsiella* species. The drug exerts its bactericidal effect by binding to the bacterial 30S ribosomal subunit, specifically the 16S rRNA component. This binding interferes with the translation of mRNA, leading to the misreading of the genetic code and the inhibition of protein synthesis, which ultimately results in bacterial cell death.
