Overview

Aminazin is a first-generation antipsychotic (neuroleptic) developed and marketed by Valenta Pharmaceuticals. Its active ingredient is chlorpromazine, a phenothiazine derivative small molecule. Aminazin primarily functions by blocking postsynaptic dopaminergic receptors in the mesolimbic structures of the brain, which helps alleviate psychotic symptoms such as delusions and hallucinations. Additionally, it exhibits antagonist activity at α-adrenoreceptors, contributing to its sedative effects. Aminazin is indicated for the treatment of various central nervous system (CNS) disorders, including psychotic conditions characterized by psychomotor agitation, affective reactions, and anxiety. It also possesses antiemetic properties and is available in coated tablet formulations.
