Overview

Scot's Expectorant is a combination pharmaceutical product developed by Scotmann Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of respiratory and allergic conditions. It contains aminophylline, a bronchodilator that works by relaxing bronchial smooth muscle through phosphodiesterase inhibition and adenosine receptor antagonism, and diphenhydramine, a first-generation antihistamine that acts as a competitive antagonist at the H1 receptor. This combination is typically used to alleviate symptoms associated with asthma, bronchitis, and allergic rhinitis where both bronchospasm and allergic inflammation are present. It is currently approved for use.
