aminophylline + acetaminophen

aminophylline + acetaminophen is a combination therapy being evaluated by Sargodha Medical College for the prevention of post-dural puncture headache (PDPH). Aminophylline, a methylxanthine derivative, acts as a non-selective adenosine receptor antagonist and phosphodiesterase inhibitor; in the context of PDPH, it is thought to alleviate symptoms by promoting cerebral vasoconstriction and potentially stimulating cerebrospinal fluid production. Acetaminophen is a non-opioid analgesic that provides pain relief through the inhibition of cyclooxygenase enzymes in the central nervous system. This combination is administered intravenously as a slow infusion for prophylactic use in surgical patients with a history of PDPH.
