A combination therapy used for the treatment of acute asthma exacerbations. It consists of three medications with different mechanisms of action: 1. **Aminophylline**: A bronchodilator containing theophylline that relaxes smooth muscles in the bronchi and stimulates the CNS, skeletal muscles, and cardiac muscle. 2. **Hydrocortisone**: A corticosteroid that reduces inflammation in the airways. 3. **Salbutamol (Albuterol)**: A short-acting beta-2 agonist that relieves bronchospasm by relaxing airway smooth muscle. Research suggests that while this combination is commonly used, intravenous aminophylline may add to the toxicity but not significantly improve the efficacy when combined with high doses of inhaled salbutamol and hydrocortisone in treating acute asthma exacerbations.
