Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Aminosteril N-Hepa is an 8% amino acid solution for intravenous infusion, specifically formulated for parenteral nutrition in patients with severe hepatic insufficiency, with or without hepatic encephalopathy. Developed by Fresenius Kabi, the solution contains a balanced mixture of essential and non-essential amino acids, including a high proportion of branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) and N-acetylcysteine, while being free of electrolytes and carbohydrates. It is designed to support protein synthesis and maintain nitrogen balance in patients where oral or enteral nutrition is impossible, insufficient, or contraindicated. The formulation addresses the altered amino acid metabolism characteristic of liver disease, helping to manage metabolic complications such as hepatic encephalopathy.
