Overview
Aminosyn-PF (Pediatric Formula) is a sterile, non-pyrogenic intravenous amino acid solution specifically formulated for the nutritional support of neonates and pediatric patients requiring parenteral nutrition. Developed to mimic the plasma amino acid profile of healthy, breast-fed infants, the solution facilitates positive nitrogen balance and supports normal growth and development in infants, including those with low birth weight. The formulation is characterized by relatively high concentrations of taurine and low concentrations of methionine, phenylalanine, and glycine to accommodate the immature metabolic pathways of the liver in infants. It is typically administered as part of a total parenteral nutrition (TPN) regimen along with dextrose, electrolytes, and vitamins.
