Overview

Amisulpride + fluvoxamine is a combination of two pharmaceutical drugs used primarily in psychiatric and neurological disorders. Amisulpride is an atypical antipsychotic that acts as a selective dopamine D2 and D3 receptor antagonist, with preferential activity in the limbic system, leading to antipsychotic effects and lower risk of extrapyramidal side effects. At low doses, it enhances dopaminergic transmission by blocking presynaptic receptors; at higher doses, it inhibits postsynaptic dopamine activity. Fluvoxamine is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) that increases synaptic serotonin levels by inhibiting its reuptake via the sodium-dependent serotonin transporter. It also binds to sigma-1 receptors but has minimal affinity for other neurotransmitter receptors. The combination may be used off-label for treatment-resistant depression or comorbid depressive and psychotic symptoms but carries risks such as bradycardia and tardive dyskinesia when used together[2][3].
