Amitose-bisglyceryl ascorbic acid (DGA) is a stable, amphiphilic vitamin C derivative developed by Seiwa Kasei and utilized in clinical applications by Momotani Juntenkan. It is primarily investigated as a topical treatment (DGA cream) for the prevention of hand-foot skin reaction (HFSR), also known as palmar-plantar erythrodysesthesia syndrome, in patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma receiving sunitinib. The compound functions as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent, aiming to mitigate the cutaneous toxicities associated with multi-kinase inhibitors by protecting skin cells from oxidative stress and improving skin barrier function. Clinical evaluation has been conducted in Phase I/II studies at Kobe University Hospital.
