Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AmLexin is a patented botanical nutraceutical ingredient developed by Unigen, Inc., specifically formulated for joint health and cartilage protection. It consists of a standardized proprietary blend of extracts derived from the heartwood of *Acacia catechu* and the root bark of *Morus alba* in a 1:2 weight ratio. The active profile is standardized to contain at least 15% catechins and 2% stilbenes and bioflavonoids. AmLexin exerts its therapeutic effects by modulating the activity of key pro-inflammatory enzymes, including cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1), cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), and 5-lipoxygenase (5-LOX), and by acting as a potent antioxidant that neutralizes superoxide anions. Clinical studies have demonstrated its ability to reduce the cartilage degradation biomarker uCTX-II, alleviate delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) in athletes, and decrease systemic inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-6.
