Overview

ALODIP-AT is a fixed-dose combination pharmaceutical product containing amlodipine and atenolol. Amlodipine is a long-acting dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker that induces vasodilation by inhibiting the influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle cells. Atenolol is a cardioselective beta-1 adrenergic receptor antagonist that reduces blood pressure by decreasing cardiac output, heart rate, and renin secretion. This combination is primarily marketed in India by Zytras Life Sciences for the management of hypertension, particularly in patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by monotherapy. The dual mechanism of action provides synergistic antihypertensive effects by addressing both peripheral resistance and cardiac workload.
