Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Amlodipine + atorvastatin** is an oral fixed-dose combination of amlodipine, a dihydropyridine calcium-channel blocker, and atorvastatin, a competitive HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor. It is marketed as **Caduet** and is used when treatment with both agents is appropriate: amlodipine lowers blood pressure and treats angina through peripheral and coronary vasodilation, while atorvastatin lowers LDL cholesterol and other atherogenic lipoproteins. The combination is indicated for patients with hypertension or coronary artery disease/angina who also require lipid-lowering therapy and cardiovascular-risk reduction.
