amlodipine + telmisartan (Admac Pharma)

Admatel-A is a fixed-dose combination tablet containing the angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) telmisartan (40 mg) and the dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker (CCB) amlodipine (5 mg). It is developed and marketed by Admac Pharma (Admac Lifesciences) for the treatment of essential hypertension. Telmisartan works by selectively blocking the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor in vascular smooth muscle and the adrenal gland, leading to vasodilation and reduced aldosterone secretion. Amlodipine inhibits the transmembrane influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, resulting in peripheral arterial vasodilation. Together, these complementary mechanisms of action provide synergistic blood pressure reduction in patients whose hypertension is not adequately controlled by monotherapy.
