Amlodipine is an L-type calcium channel blocker that treats hypertension by inhibiting the influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, leading to vasodilation and reduced peripheral resistance. Atorvastatin is a statin that treats dyslipidemia by inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase, the rate-limiting enzyme in hepatic cholesterol synthesis, thereby lowering LDL cholesterol levels.
