Overview
Thenadyl E C Compound Syrup is an approved over-the-counter (OTC) combination cough syrup developed and marketed by National Pharmaceutical in Hong Kong. It is formulated to relieve symptoms associated with coughs, congestion, and the common cold. The syrup contains five active ingredients: ammonium chloride (an expectorant), chlorpheniramine (an antihistamine), codeine (an opioid antitussive), ephedrine (a sympathomimetic decongestant and bronchodilator), and menthol (a soothing agent). Together, these components work synergistically to reduce cough reflex, alleviate nasal and bronchial congestion, block histamine-mediated allergic responses, and soothe irritated airways.
