Overview

AmnioDefend is a dehydrated human amniotic membrane (dHAM) matrix developed by Organogenesis for the management of chronic and acute wounds. As a cellular, acellular, and matrix-like product (CAMP), it functions as a biological scaffold that facilitates tissue regeneration by providing a structural extracellular matrix (ECM) rich in collagen, fibronectin, and laminin. The matrix also contains endogenous growth factors, cytokines, and protease inhibitors that modulate the wound microenvironment, promote angiogenesis, and accelerate epithelialization. It is primarily investigated for use in non-healing wounds such as pressure ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, and venous leg ulcers, where it serves as a protective barrier and a template for cellular ingrowth.
