Amnion-derived collagen is a biological product derived from the human amniotic membrane, developed by the Egyptian Atomic Energy Authority for dermatological applications. It consists of a collagen-rich matrix, often sterilized via irradiation, intended for skin rejuvenation. When administered through microneedling or microinjection, it serves as a scaffold to promote the remodeling of the extracellular matrix, leading to increased epidermal thickness and the reorganization of collagen and elastic fibers. It is primarily investigated for its efficacy in smoothing facial wrinkles and reducing hyperpigmentation by improving skin texture and decreasing melanin levels.
