Amniotic Membrane Dressing-Universidad de Valparaiso is a biological wound cover derived from human amniotic membranes obtained from elective cesarean sections. Developed by the Universidad de Valparaiso, this dressing is used as a transient skin substitute for the management of acute pediatric burns. The membranes are screened for infectious diseases and sterilized via irradiation to ensure safety. When applied to burn wounds, the amniotic membrane provides a natural scaffold that promotes epithelialization, reduces pain, and acts as a barrier against infection and fluid loss. It is typically replaced every 72 to 96 hours during wound care procedures.
