Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Amomum compactum extract is a botanical derivative obtained from the seeds of *Amomum compactum* (also known as Java cardamom), a plant widely utilized in traditional Chinese and Indonesian medicine. Recent research using systems pharmacology and high-throughput multi-omics platforms has identified this extract as a potential therapeutic agent for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The extract exerts its anti-cancer effects by modulating key hub genes involved in metabolic regulation and tumor progression, specifically AKR1B10, HMGCR, and THBS1. It has been shown to suppress the proliferation and migration of HCC cells while inducing programmed cell death through pathways such as apoptosis and ferroptosis. Additionally, it modulates inflammatory signaling pathways, including TNF, IL-17, and MAPK, making it a candidate for precision ethnopharmacology in liver cancer treatment.
