Overview

This is a combination regimen consisting of seven antibiotics—amoxicillin, clarithromycin, metronidazole, tinidazole, levofloxacin, furazolidone, and tetracycline. Each component is a small molecule antibiotic with distinct mechanisms of action targeting bacterial DNA synthesis (levofloxacin), protein synthesis (clarithromycin, tetracycline), cell wall synthesis (amoxicillin), or other essential bacterial processes. Such an extensive combination is not standard in clinical practice but includes agents commonly used in various Helicobacter pylori eradication regimens and for the treatment of resistant or refractory infections. The rationale for combining multiple antibiotics would be to overcome multi-drug resistance by targeting bacteria through several independent mechanisms.
