Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Hardclav DDS is a branded generic combination antibiotic containing amoxicillin, a penicillin-class beta-lactam antibiotic, and clavulanic acid (as potassium clavulanate), a beta-lactamase inhibitor. Developed by Avogadro, it is used to treat various bacterial infections, including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, and skin infections. The addition of clavulanic acid protects amoxicillin from degradation by beta-lactamase enzymes produced by resistant bacteria, thereby extending its spectrum of activity. The "DDS" designation typically refers to a "Dry Syrup" formulation, often in a "Double Strength" concentration for pediatric use.
