Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Reclav 625 is a branded generic combination antibiotic containing amoxicillin (500 mg) and clavulanic acid (125 mg). Amoxicillin, a beta-lactam antibiotic of the penicillin class, works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis through binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs). Clavulanic acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that protects amoxicillin from degradation by beta-lactamase enzymes produced by resistant bacteria, thereby extending its spectrum of activity to include many strains otherwise resistant to amoxicillin alone. Manufactured by Rishab Healthcare, it is indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections, including pneumonia, sinusitis, urinary tract infections, and skin and soft tissue infections.
