Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Amclue LB is an oral fixed-dose combination antibiotic and probiotic formulation developed by Goldline Pharmaceutical. It contains amoxicillin (a broad-spectrum penicillin antibiotic), clavulanic acid (a beta-lactamase inhibitor), and lactic acid bacillus (a probiotic). Amoxicillin works by binding to and inhibiting penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), which disrupts bacterial cell wall synthesis and leads to cell lysis. Clavulanic acid prevents the enzymatic degradation of amoxicillin by inhibiting bacterial beta-lactamases, thereby overcoming resistance and extending the antibacterial spectrum. Lactic acid bacillus is included to restore and maintain healthy gut microbiota, reducing the risk of antibiotic-associated diarrhea. Amclue LB is approved and marketed in India for the treatment of various susceptible bacterial infections, including respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin, and soft tissue infections.
